Paulina Sierra, reci\u00e9n incorporada al Advanced Mining Technology Center (AMTC) de la Universidad de Chile, se embarcar\u00e1 en un proyecto crucial centrado en el desarrollo de sensores electroqu\u00edmicos. Su tarea principal consistir\u00e1 en crear dispositivos capaces de detectar cobre de manera veloz y precisa en tiempo real, especialmente en los procesos de lixiviaci\u00f3n en pilas.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif; color: #222222;\">PROYECTOS SEMILLA<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif; color: #222222;\">Esta iniciativa, financiada a trav\u00e9s del concurso 2023 orientado a investigadoras para proyectos semilla de I+D en miner\u00eda, surge como respuesta a las limitaciones actuales en las operaciones de lixiviaci\u00f3n de cobre en pilas. Dichas operaciones generan soluciones acuosas con elevadas concentraciones de cobre, pero la falta de instrumentos r\u00e1pidos y confiables para cuantificar este contenido limita las decisiones operativas inmediatas y la posibilidad de implementar un control autom\u00e1tico.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif; color: #222222;\">La Dra. Sierra explica que el est\u00e1ndar operativo actual depende en gran medida del muestreo y an\u00e1lisis qu\u00edmico, y por ende, la necesidad apremiante de desarrollar sensores espec\u00edficos para estas soluciones \u00e1cidas derivadas de minerales de cobre. Su objetivo es claro: crear sensores altamente precisos y confiables que superen las limitaciones actuales.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif; color: #222222;\">SENSORES ELECTROQU\u00cdMICOS EN PROCESOS DE LIXIVIACI\u00d3N<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif; color: #222222;\">En contraposici\u00f3n a los m\u00e9todos convencionales utilizados en la industria, el enfoque de la investigaci\u00f3n se dirige hacia la creaci\u00f3n de sensores electroqu\u00edmicos. Estos se dise\u00f1ar\u00e1n, por ejemplo, con nanomateriales conductores y pol\u00edmeros que tengan afinidad por el cobre, lo que favorecer\u00e1 su detecci\u00f3n selectiva. La Dra. Sierra destaca que la detecci\u00f3n r\u00e1pida y reproducible en muestras reales podr\u00eda allanar el camino para la automatizaci\u00f3n y la implementaci\u00f3n industrial.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #bababa;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: 'Verdana',sans-serif; color: #222222;\">El proceso de desarrollo contempla una primera fase de pruebas en laboratorio bajo condiciones ideales, utilizando agua ultrapura y soluciones est\u00e1ndar de cobre. Posteriormente, la aplicaci\u00f3n final se llevar\u00e1 a cabo en muestras de lixiviado en pilas, una matriz m\u00e1s compleja.
