Su objetivo principal es estabilizar el hierro en soluci\u00f3n, disminuyendo el uso de \u00e1cido sulf\u00farico y agentes oxidantes, mejorando la eficiencia operativa y aumentando la recuperaci\u00f3n metal\u00fargica.<\/p>\n<p>Este enfoque permite reducir el impacto ambiental asociado al consumo de reactivos y mejorar la efectividad del proceso en minerales de sulfuros mixtos, aportando directamente a pr\u00e1cticas extractivas m\u00e1s responsables.<\/p>\n<h2>Desaf\u00edos en la lixiviaci\u00f3n de sulfuros<\/h2>\n<p>La lixiviaci\u00f3n tradicional de sulfuros de cobre \u2014tanto secundarios como primarios\u2014 requiere altos niveles de acidez y potencial redox en medios f\u00e9rricos. En contraste, la lixiviaci\u00f3n clorada reduce el potencial redox a medida que aumenta la concentraci\u00f3n de cloruros. Cuando esta supera los 90 g\/L, la oxidaci\u00f3n ocurre a potenciales m\u00e1s bajos y favorables para la disoluci\u00f3n de calcopirita, uno de los mayores desaf\u00edos metal\u00fargicos de la industria.<\/p>\n<p>Sin embargo, la precipitaci\u00f3n del hierro en forma de compuestos f\u00e9rricos y cloro-f\u00e9rricos contin\u00faa siendo un problema frecuente, ya que afecta la permeabilidad del lecho mineral, disminuye la extracci\u00f3n de cobre, aumenta la formaci\u00f3n de borra (\u00abcrud\u00bb) y dificulta la separaci\u00f3n de fases en la extracci\u00f3n por solventes.<\/p>\n<h2>El rol del pH y el consumo de \u00e1cido<\/h2>\n<p>Los estudios de laboratorio y pilotajes industriales muestran que estas precipitaciones se producen por bajas adiciones de \u00e1cido sulf\u00farico, lo que eleva el pH de la soluci\u00f3n. A valores superiores a pH 1,5, se forman jarositas y natrojarosita, mientras que sobre pH 2,0 se generan hidr\u00f3xidos y oxihidr\u00f3xidos f\u00e9rricos pr\u00e1cticamente insolubles.<\/p>\n<p>En minerales heterog\u00e9neos, que combinan \u00f3xidos, silicatos y sulfuros de cobre, la demanda de \u00e1cido es desigual debido a las distintas velocidades de reacci\u00f3n y al consumo de \u00e1cido por parte de las gangas met\u00e1licas y no met\u00e1licas. Esto afecta directamente la eficiencia del proceso y los resultados de extracci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<h2>Condiciones necesarias para mejorar la eficiencia<\/h2>\n<p>Para evitar la precipitaci\u00f3n de hierro, se requiere aumentar la concentraci\u00f3n de \u00e1cido sulf\u00farico y ox\u00edgeno disuelto para mantener la soluci\u00f3n percolada con un pH menor a 2 y favorecer un dominio ferroso que limite la formaci\u00f3n de jarositas.<\/p>\n<p>Aunque se han intentado m\u00e9todos de estabilizaci\u00f3n del hierro mediante adici\u00f3n de sulfato o cloruro f\u00e9rrico, o sulfato ferroso con per\u00f3xido de hidr\u00f3geno, los resultados han sido insuficientes. Estas alternativas demandan altas dosis de reactivos para mantener estables las concentraciones de hierro f\u00e9rrico.<\/p>\n<h2>Metodolog\u00eda Lixsemin: innovaci\u00f3n para una miner\u00eda sustentable<\/h2>\n<p>El CIMS JRI est\u00e1 desarrollando la metodolog\u00eda Lixiviaci\u00f3n Secuencial de Minerales (Lixsemin), una soluci\u00f3n dise\u00f1ada para reducir el consumo de reactivos y aumentar la extracci\u00f3n de cobre. Este enfoque tambi\u00e9n se est\u00e1 aplicando con \u00e9xito en minerales polimet\u00e1licos que contienen cobre, oro y plata.<\/p>\n<p>La metodolog\u00eda busca mantener el pH de la soluci\u00f3n de riego entre 1,5 y 1,8, y el de la soluci\u00f3n percolada bajo 2,0. Con una aireaci\u00f3n adecuada en la pila, o mediante la adici\u00f3n controlada de per\u00f3xido, es posible estabilizar la oxidaci\u00f3n del hierro ferroso a f\u00e9rrico y asegurar la concentraci\u00f3n necesaria para un proceso eficiente y sustentable.<\/p>\n<p>La optimizaci\u00f3n de la lixiviaci\u00f3n clorada representa un avance significativo para la miner\u00eda sustentable, permitiendo disminuir el consumo de reactivos, mejorar la eficiencia metal\u00fargica y reducir impactos ambientales.
